JNOC 46: Joy Victoria

Strength and conditioning coach and mobility master Joy Victoria up in here. In addition to our mock clients, we cover some stone cold IF problems and cougar talk.

Also available on iTunesStitcher Radio, and Direct Download.

Mock Client 1:

Name: Boomtika, mother of 3
Age: 47
Height: 5’8″
Weight: 138lbs
BF: est. 23%

She has been lifting for 10 months. Nothing with a barbell to this point. Her workout days consist of one of the following lifts each day Box Squats, Dumbbell deadlifts, very light Dumbbell Shoulder press, and inverted rows. The biggest problem she faces is a frozen shoulder. One that has very limited range of motion thus the very light shoulder movement. She has been on meds, had massages, even had it cracked by the doctor. Nothing is working for her. Currently she can not set up for a wall slide position and has problems with any front raise type of movement.

Her diet is that of a middle aged woman. She is a stay at home mom, so she eats when she can and normally eats the type of foods her kids enjoy.

PLEASE Ms. Joy, help Boomtika out 😀

Mock Client 2:

Name: Dude87, weightlifting for 5 years, 10+ years of martial arts
Age: 26
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 195lbs
BF: ~12%

Reoccurring right biceps/brachialis tendonitis, right shoulder snapped up in past, deficits in internal rotation and extension, history of anterior shoulder pain from anterior humeral glide, anatomical leg length discrepancy , right leg shorter by half inch or so, manifests as low hip / low shoulder on right side, mild lumbar and upper thoracic scoliosis and some twisting at SI joint. Left knee takes a beating being longer leg. left thoracic rotation somewhat limited. tight lats prevent proper shoulder flexion without lumbar compensation. Anterior pelvic tilt

Thanks for the tips. I didn’t realize there were so many ways to do rows incorrectly. Definitely good things to keep in mind while doing my rows.
